The design of cultural buildings often focuses on issues of civic pride, operational viability, funder’s agendas, technical complexity and legislative restrictions all important however the reason d’être for performance spaces, the spiritual and emotional interaction between artist and audience, is all too often compromised.

We have hands on experience in the planning, design, funding, building and running of performing and visual arts buildings. As theatre consultants, architects and theatre building managers we have developed an insight into what makes arts buildings work. This gives us the flexibility to work with individual organisations and provide practical and innovative solutions as well as exciting venues.

We have designed arts venues as diverse as opera houses, drama theatres, art galleries, popular music venues and community arts centres in many different countries. Sadly many have not got past the planning stage. Those that get built all shared one characteristic, the enormous commitment and perseverance from the whole team.
