our client has purchased an un-modernised 1963 concrete and brick Brutalist house in the heart of Chelsea as a London base for them and their four teenage children.
The project is looking at either a major refurbishment and extension of the existing property or the construction of a large contemporary home on the site. A remodelling would be quicker and more sustainable but a new house will use the site better and construction will be VAT free. The house is in the middle of a conservation area and abuts a listed terrace and so obtaining planning is proving to be a tortuous process.
